Why Exercise Can Fight Depression

Recent news has highlighted the high incidence of depression in modern society.

💚I want to summarize what I have learned in my major in detail and in a simple way, so that more people can independently prevent and treat depression and depression🌈🌈

[What is depression like]

Each of us will have [depression].

Also the internet buzzword “emo” you’ve heard.

The case of [depression] is more serious:

The main clinical features are significant and persistent (more than two weeks) depressed mood, accompanied by physical and mental pain such as insomnia, loss of appetite and libido, social phobia, slow thinking, language ability and memory decline. Severe depression and even suicide attempts or behaviors.

[Causes of depression]

1- Endogenous, mostly genetic

2- Exogenous is mostly caused by external environmental events, and is the result of reactions to mental stimulation events such as setbacks, unfortunate events in life, work and study pressure.

[Treatment approach]

1- Clinical medical treatment such as: drug therapy, physical therapy

2- Relieve psychological stress through psychological counseling, lifestyle intervention and self-regulation

3- Exercise can also help prevent depression

[Why exercise can prevent depression]

Studies have shown that aerobic exercise can be as effective or better than antidepressants in treating mild to moderate depression.

American scholars have done an experiment:

156 patients with depression were divided into 3 groups

👉🏻A group taking antidepressants

👉🏻A group of exercise 3 times a week, more than 30 minutes each time

👉🏻The last group does nothing

4 months later

🍀The symptoms of depression in both the medication group and the exercise group were significantly improved

🍀The improvement effect of the exercise group is slightly better than that of the medication group

1 year later

🍀92% of the exercise group had no recurrence, while 1/3 of the medication group relapsed

Another study showed that compared with cycling, swimming, iron lifting and other sports, running has the best effect on slowing down depression.

[Many people get rid of depression through running]

Among them are some famous people, such as:

I believe everyone will feel happy and relaxed after running [haha]

That’s because of running secretion——

✅Endorphins

✅5-HT

✅Norepinephrine

And these hormones are lacking in depression.

But need attention:

⚠️Running is suitable for patients with mild to moderate depression, but not for patients with severe depression.

⚠️Don’t just run, other effective interventions should also keep up.

⚠️Do not run excessively, causing harm to the body.
